How to make an RPG game with AI

An RPG lets players grow a character through quests, fights and loot. A full RPG is huge, but a small one with one town, a few monsters and a level-up system is a very doable AI project. You won't write code. You paste a prompt into an AI coding tool such as Claude, Cursor, Bolt or ChatGPT and it builds a browser game you can play.

Scope is everything. Ask for one short quest from start to finish first. Once that works, ask for more quests, items and areas one at a time.

How to do it in 3 steps

  1. Copy the Starter recipe. Use the Copy button below.
  2. Paste it into an AI tool. Paste it into a new project and let it build.
  3. Finish one quest, then grow it. Play the first quest all the way through before asking for new content.

Build a small, playable browser game inspired by "Be In A Book : Ashvara" (RPG, Strategy).
Concept: A god-king is dead, five people hold the fate of an empire...and you are one of them.
Tech: use Vanilla JS / Canvas; keep it to a single page that loads instantly with no login or install.
Controls: touch controls (tap/drag) that work on a phone plus keyboard and mouse on desktop, shown on a short how-to-play screen.
Players: single-player.
Core loop: include a timer or round clock.
Steps: 1) get the core mechanic playable with placeholder shapes, 2) add win/lose conditions and restart, 3) polish feel, visuals and sound, 4) add your own twist (setting, character or one new rule).
Make it your own: don't copy the original's name, art, text or code.

Heads up: Starter recipes are learning templates written by Vibe1Up, not the creator's own prompt.

FAQ

How big should my first RPG be?
One small area, three enemy types and one quest. You can grow it from there in small steps.
Turn-based or real-time combat?
Turn-based is easier to describe and debug, so it's a good first choice. Ask for real-time later if you want.
How do I write dialogue?
Write it yourself, or ask the AI for a first draft and edit it. Keeping dialogue in a separate list makes it easy to change.
