How to make an idle clicker game with AI

Idle and clicker games are the easiest kind of game to build with AI: click to earn, buy upgrades, earn more, even while you're away. There's no physics and no level design, just numbers that go up in satisfying ways. No coding needed. Paste a prompt into Claude, Cursor, Bolt, ChatGPT or a similar tool and you'll have a working game in minutes.

The fun is in the pacing: each upgrade should feel affordable soon, but not right now. Ask the AI to make costs grow a little faster than income, and to show a big satisfying number when something unlocks.

How to do it in 3 steps

  1. Copy the Starter recipe. Tap Copy below.
  2. Paste it into an AI tool. Paste into a new project. Ask it to save progress in the browser.
  3. Play for five minutes, then pace it. If you're waiting too long or buying too fast, ask the AI to change upgrade costs.

Build a small, playable browser game inspired by "Orbital Outpost" (Incremental).
Concept: Orbital Outpost is a micro incremental reactor-defense game where you build an automated space station, harvest energy with a manual laser beam, and survive corrupted signal waves that mutate each run.
Tone/hook (from the game's own page): Orbital Outpost is a micro incremental reactor-defense game where you build an automated space station, harvest energy with a manual laser beam, and survive corrupted signal waves that mutate each run.
Tech: use Three.js; keep it to a single page that loads instantly with no login or install.
Controls: touch controls (tap/drag) that work on a phone plus keyboard and mouse on desktop, shown on a short how-to-play screen.
Players: single-player.
Core loop: include a timer or round clock, levels, stages or waves that ramp up, progress saved in localStorage.
Steps: 1) get the core mechanic playable with placeholder shapes, 2) add win/lose conditions and restart, 3) polish feel, visuals and sound, 4) add your own twist (setting, character or one new rule).
Make it your own: don't copy the original's name, art, text or code.

Heads up: Starter recipes are learning templates written by Vibe1Up, not the creator's own prompt.

FAQ

Why is a clicker a good first AI game?
It needs no physics, art or levels. It's mostly buttons and numbers, which AI tools handle very reliably.
How do I keep players coming back?
Offline earnings and a prestige reset are the classic tools. Ask the AI for both once the basic loop works.
How do I stop numbers from getting too long?
Ask the AI to format big numbers as 1.2K, 3.4M and so on.
